7 Benefits of Meditation
You’re stressed. You’re tired. You’re anxious and sleepless because everything you wanted to say but didn’t think of in time, and everything you wanted to do but didn’t get done, is swirling around your brain and you can’t make it stop. The more you can’t sleep, the more anxious you get, and the more anxious you get, the more you can’t sleep. What to do? How to free yourself from this grind?
Have you lost count of how many times you’ve been urged to take up meditation? Maybe now's the time to accept the challenge.
Meditation can:
You’re stressed? No wonder: take care of the kids, take care of the pets, the spouse, the home, the job, the hurdles that pop up like the weeds in the garden, which also have to be tended to. And let’s not even mention the Broncos, the Lakers, the Rangers, the Sox (White and Red), the Mets or the Jets. While you’re meditating for ten to twenty minutes on Monday, you’re putting aside your stressors and clearing your head.
Stress leads to pain and anxiety. When you’re anxious your jaws clench, your muscles tighten, your back hurts, your head throbs. When you’re blissfully meditating for ten to twenty minutes on Tuesday, your anxieties are floating away – your muscles are relaxing and your entire body is unclenching.
Humans need eight hours of sleep every night, but you can’t store extra sleep to call on when you’re running a deficit. The longer you lie awake trying to force yourself to fall asleep, the more you’re not falling asleep. After you’ve meditated for ten to twenty minutes on Wednesday, your body and mind will be relaxed and less cluttered. Sleep well!
During days of stress, pain, anxiety and sleeplessness, you’re just going to drag yourself around in a fog. Checklist items might get done by force of habit while you look forward to the end of the day when you can drag yourself home and flop into bed. Meditate for ten to twenty minutes on Thursday – your improved sleep patterns will bless you with a heightened stream of energy.
With greater stores of energy and balance, you’ll have more physical and mental strength, more stamina to charge through tasks and complications with power to spare. Meditate on Friday for ten to twenty minutes and count on your boosted energy to block out distractions and get stuff done.
Let’s see: improved energy and concentration, improved sleep and focus. With your newfound strategy for control over stress and anxiety, things are going smoother than ever. Meditate for ten to twenty minutes on Saturday to keep up the pace of your increased productivity.
When you exercise, when you sleep well, when you put anxiety in its place, you’re boosting your immune system. By unwinding, taking some time away from all those stressors, you’re becoming less vulnerable to colds and viruses. By meditating for ten to twenty minutes on Sunday, you’re promoting your own good health.
And there you have it! Seven benefits of meditation, and things are running more smoothly already.
